Class Descriptions

What Classes can my Dancer Take at PDT Dance Arts?

Every great dancer begins with a strong technical foundation. Our curriculum is built around Ballet, Tap, and Jazz, which develop the technique, musicality, strength, coordination, and discipline needed to succeed in every style of dance.

Once dancers establish these fundamentals, they can expand their training with specialty classes that enhance performance skills, athleticism, versatility, and artistry. As dancers grow, we offer a variety of other classes that offer our students a well rounded dance education!

Recommended Foundation Classes

Ballet

The foundation of all dance training. Ballet develops proper technique, posture, balance, flexibility, strength, alignment, musicality, and artistry. Every dancer benefits from consistent ballet training, regardless of the styles they pursue.

Tap

Tap teaches rhythm, timing, coordination, musicality, and precision while encouraging dancers to become confident musicians with their feet. Tap strengthens listening skills and sharpens overall performance quality.

Jazz

Jazz combines strong technical training with dynamic movement, flexibility, turns, leaps, and performance skills. Dancers build confidence, athleticism, and stage presence while learning versatile movement that supports many dance styles.

At PDT Dance Arts, our Mini Movers classes include all three of these fundamental elements.  As our dancers grow, they move into the introductory level classes and then to our level classes for safe and healthy progression.

Specialty & Growth Classes

These classes complement our foundation program and help dancers become well-rounded performers.

Hip Hop

Build confidence, musicality, freestyle ability, and performance while learning today's popular commercial dance styles.

Jazz Funk

A high-energy fusion of jazz technique and commercial choreography that develops performance quality, style, precision, and confidence.

Contemporary

Blends ballet and jazz technique with emotional expression, fluid movement, and storytelling. Dancers explore artistry, creativity, and musical interpretation.

Acrobatics

Develop strength, flexibility, balance, control, and safe tumbling progressions that complement dance technique.

Musical Theatre

Combine dance, acting, and character performance while learning Broadway-inspired choreography and stage presence.

Drill Team / Poms

Designed for dancers interested in school drill teams or pom squads. Focuses on precision, synchronization, sharp movement quality, kick technique, performance, and team skills.

Skill Training

A focused conditioning class dedicated to improving turns, jumps, flexibility, balance, strength, and technical execution. An excellent supplement for dancers wanting to accelerate their progress in every style.

Our Recommendation: New dancers should enroll in at least one foundation class (Ballet, Tap, or Jazz). As they progress, adding specialty classes creates a more complete dance education and helps them reach their fullest potential.
